A Sports Management Degree for Dehradun Students
Next intake: Academic Year 2027 · limited seatsWhat a Year Actually Costs, Living on Campus
| B.S.M. tuitionBilled in two semester instalments | ₹1,00,000 per year |
|---|---|
| Room, food and laundryFour-sharing — ₹75,000 + ₹8,400 laundry | ₹83,400 a year |
| Twin-sharing insteadIf you would rather not share with three | ₹1,28,400 a year |
| One-time chargesFirst year only, at admission | ₹21,700 |
| First year, four-sharing, everything in | ₹2,05,100 |
Years two to four are ₹1,83,400 on the same room type, because the one-time charges are not repeated. Travel home is not in these figures and nor is anything personal. We publish this breakdown rather than a single number because a single number is how families get surprised in January.
To say the obvious first: our campus is not in Dehradun. The B.S.M. is taught at Mind Power University, Bhimtal, in Nainital district — the Kumaon side of Uttarakhand, at the other end of the state from the Doon valley. If you want a sports management degree without leaving Dehradun, this is not it, and you should know that before you read further.
What this page is for is the decision most Dehradun students are actually making: whether a residential sports management degree inside your own state is worth the move. So here is the whole number rather than the headline one — ₹1,00,000 per year in tuition, ₹83,400 a year for a four-sharing room with food and laundry, and ₹21,700 of one-time charges in the first year.

Getting There, and Getting Home
Practical things a Dehradun family asks on the first call, answered here rather than on the phone.
- The journeyDehradun and Bhimtal sit on opposite sides of Uttarakhand, so this is a full day by road rather than a commute. Most students travel via Haldwani.
- The railheadKathgodam is the nearest station to Bhimtal, and it is the one to look up when you are planning a visit or a term break.
- Going homeSemester breaks and the long vacation are the realistic trips home. Plan the year around two or three, not weekends.
- A campus visit firstCome and see the hostel and the grounds before you accept a seat. We would rather you did.
If the travel is the thing stopping you, say so on the enquiry call. It is a reasonable objection and we will not pretend otherwise.

Mind Power University, Bhimtal, Nainital
Taught on the Mind Power University campus at Bhimtal, in the Kumaon hills — the same university that awards the degree. Not a rented building with a distant university’s name on the certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a sports management college in Dehradun?
Not ours. We teach the B.S.M. at Mind Power University, Bhimtal, in Nainital district, and we are not going to list a Dehradun address we do not have. Dehradun has general universities with management faculties; whether any of them runs a dedicated sports management degree is worth checking with them directly, and if one suits you better than moving to Kumaon, take it.
Can a student from Dehradun study sports management in Uttarakhand without leaving the state?
Yes — that is what this programme is. The B.S.M. is a four-year degree taught at Bhimtal, Nainital, so you stay inside Uttarakhand rather than relocating to Mumbai or Pune, where most of India's sports management programmes sit. Tuition is ₹1,00,000 per year; a four-sharing room with food and laundry is ₹83,400 a year.
What does a year cost in total?
₹2,05,100 in the first year on a four-sharing room, and ₹1,83,400 in each year after it, because ₹21,700 of that first-year figure is one-time charges paid at admission. Twin-sharing raises the residential part from ₹83,400 to ₹1,28,400.
Is there an entrance exam?
No. Admission is direct on your Class 12 result plus a counselling conversation. Eligibility is 10+2 any stream, min 45%.
Can I do this after Class 12 Commerce or Arts?
Yes, any stream. A Commerce background helps mildly on the sponsorship and ticketing side, because those are commercial problems before they are sporting ones, but it is not required and neither is Maths.
What if I would rather study physical education than sports management?
Then look at the B.P.E.S. instead — same campus, same intake, a four-year degree aimed at coaching, training and PE teaching rather than at the business of sport.
