Every sports college says it is the right choice, and most do it without telling you what a year costs. Four things about the IMPACT campus specific enough to check — and the list of what we are not claiming.
Every sports college in India will tell you it is the right choice. Most of them will do it without telling you what a year costs, who awards the degree, or what happens in week one. So rather than adjectives, here are the four things about the Sportal IMPACT campus that are specific enough to check — and the things we are not going to claim.
1. AI is in the core curriculum, not sold as a certificate beside it
This is the difference that matters most and it is the easiest to fake. The common model in Indian sports education is an unchanged syllabus with an "AI certificate" bolted on — a short module, often taught by a vendor, which leaves the degree exactly as it was.
Ours runs AI and machine learning for sport through the core, from the first year: performance data, video and match analysis, workload and injury-risk modelling, and the statistics underneath all of it. Not an add-on, and not an elective you can avoid.
How to test this claim at any institution, including ours: ask which tools are taught, in which semester, and how they are assessed. "AI-powered" is not an answer. "Python in semesters one and two, assessed by project" is. Ask whether a student can graduate without touching it. If the answer is yes, it is not in the core.
2. The internships are mandatory, not available
There is a one-word difference between brochures that matters more than almost anything else in them. "Internships available" means you arrange it. "Internships mandatory and coordinated" means the institution has to, and it is accountable when it does not happen.
Ours are written into the course as a requirement with a partner network behind them — schools, academies, leagues, corporates and government departments. A student cannot quietly skip the industry exposure and still finish, which is the point.
Ask whether internships are compulsory and who arranges them. The institutions that say "we help with placements" are telling you that you are on your own.
3. The campus is in the Kumaon hills, and that is a real variable
The IMPACT campus sits on Mind Power University’s own campus at Bohrakoon, Bhimtal — a small lake town in the Kumaon hills of Nainital district, about an hour from Kathgodam railhead. It is residential: separate secured hostels for boys and girls, boundary walls, CCTV, security staff and wardens you can reach.
For a sports degree the setting is not decoration. Training outdoors in hill air for four years is a materially different experience from training beside an arterial road in a metro, and anyone who has done both knows it within a week.
The honest other side: Bhimtal is a small town, not a city. Winters are cold, the nightlife is a lake, and if you want a metro you should go to one. Families from the North East, Delhi and the plains should factor in travel home at least twice a year as a real cost, not a footnote.
4. Every fee is published — which is rarer than it should be
We are not going to tell you this is the cheapest sports degree in India, because we do not know that and neither does anyone who tells you they do. A government or state university will almost always cost less, and if the published total here is more than your family can carry, that is the right answer and we would rather you took it.
What we will claim is that you can find out. The B.P.E.S. is published at a semester and an annual figure. The B.S.M. is published. Hostel, mess and one-time charges are published. The whole fee structure is on the site, before you apply, without a form in the way — which in this market is unusual enough to be a differentiator on its own.
Compare that against the colleges on your shortlist that say "fees on request". A fee you have to ring up and ask for is not a lower fee. It is an unknown one, and unknowns resolve upward after you have enrolled.
5. Scholarships and loans, with the actual numbers
Published fees only help if you can also see what reduces them. There is a merit and sports scholarship scheme, and the slabs are on the admissions page rather than held back for a counselling call — you can work out your own band before you speak to anybody.

Two honest notes on that table. It applies to the annual programme fee, not to hostel, mess or one-time charges. And the exact amount is confirmed by a counsellor against your documents — the slab tells you the band, your marksheet and your competition certificates decide the number. Tuition can also be paid in term instalments rather than as a lump sum, which is agreed during counselling as part of the fee structure.
Education loans, and the myth about them
A persistent myth worth killing: education loans are not restricted to engineering, medicine and MBA. The standard Indian education loan framework covers any recognised degree at a recognised institution, and the degree here is awarded by Mind Power University, a State Private University established under the Uttarakhand Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2024 and listed by the Governor of Uttarakhand. That is the recognition a lender asks about.
The neutral place to start is the Government of India’s Vidya Lakshmi portal, where one Common Education Loan Application Form reaches several banks at once rather than you approaching each separately. We are not going to quote you an interest rate or a subsidy figure: every bank sets its own terms, the published numbers vary widely between sources, and a rate we printed today would be wrong by the time you read it. Check the portal and your own bank.
Mind Power University has banking arrangements of its own, and the admissions team can tell you what is in place and point you at the right contact. Ask them directly rather than taking a figure from this page. What no institution can honestly promise you is approval — that decision belongs to the bank, and anyone telling you a loan is guaranteed is describing something that is not theirs to give.
What we are not claiming
A "why choose us" page is where institutions quietly invent things, so here is the list of what this one does not say.
- No placement record, because there is none. The 2027-28 session is the first degree intake, so there are no graduates, no placement percentage and no alumni. Anyone quoting you figures for these degrees is quoting something that does not exist.
- No promise that a B.P.E.S. gets you a government PE teaching post. It does not — that needs an NCTE-recognised B.P.Ed, and we say so on the degree page itself.
- No claim to be a university. Mind Power University awards the degree and holds all academic authority; Sportal operates the campus facilities and teaches the sports programmes.
- No "best in India" ranking, because no ranking we could cite exists for this category.
- No guaranteed loan approval. The university has banking arrangements and the admissions team will point you at them, but the decision on any individual application belongs to the bank, not to us.
That list is not modesty. It is the same standard we are asking you to apply to every other brochure on your table.
Who this is actually right for
- Someone who wants the sports science, analytics or management side rather than school teaching — if you want to teach, a B.P.Ed is the qualification and it is widely available.
- Someone who would rather be a first cohort with staff attention than the three-hundredth student in an established department.
- Someone whose family wants a published total they can budget against before committing four years.
- Someone who would genuinely rather train in the hills than in a city, and knows what a hill winter is.
