Is a Private University BPES or BSM Valid for Government Jobs?

It does not, on its own, qualify you for a government PE teacher post — those usually ask for a B.P.Ed. as well. This page explains both halves, with the sources so you can check them yourself.
Our degrees are awarded by Mind Power University, Bhimtal, Nainital. It is a State Private University established in 2024 under Uttarakhand’s private-universities law, and it appears on the University Grants Commission’s list of State Private Universities under Section 2(f). The degrees are full-time and taught on campus — not distance or online.

How to Check It Yourself
Do not take a college’s word for it — including ours. These are the public checks, and each takes a few minutes.
- UGC’s list of universitiesOn ugc.gov.in, open the list of State Private Universities and search for the university. Mind Power University is listed under Uttarakhand with status 2(f).
- UGC’s fake-universities listUGC publishes the institutions it calls fake, and lists universities that violate its regulations. Check that the university is on neither.
- The awarding universityAsk which university’s name will be on the degree certificate. A training company or college cannot award a degree itself; the university does.
- The mode of studyRegular, on-campus degrees and distance or online degrees are governed by different UGC rules. Ours are regular and on campus.
- The recruitment noticeFor any government job, the notice names the qualification. If it asks for a B.P.Ed. or a specific subject, that is the rule for that post.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a degree from a private university valid in India?
Yes, if the university was established under a State Act and appears on UGC’s list of universities, and the degree is earned in the regular mode. Mind Power University is a State Private University on UGC’s list under Section 2(f), and our degrees are full-time and on campus.
Is a B.P.E.S. valid for a government PE teacher job?
Not on its own, in most cases. Government PE teacher posts are usually advertised for a B.P.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution (“or equivalent”), plus TET or CTET where the post requires it, and we have not found an official notice that names a B.P.E.S. as that equivalent. A B.P.E.S. graduate is eligible to apply for a B.P.Ed., which is the route we recommend if government teaching is your goal.
Can a B.S.M. graduate apply for government jobs?
For posts that ask for a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university, yes — the B.S.M. is a recognised bachelor’s degree. Some posts ask for a specific subject or a professional qualification, so read the notice for the post you want.
What do “2(f)” and “12B” mean?
2(f) means the university is included in UGC’s list of universities. 12B is a separate status that makes a university eligible for grants from UGC and the central government. Mind Power University is listed under 2(f), not 12B. If a particular scholarship, grant or job notice mentions 12B, check that notice.
Is this a distance or online degree?
No. It is a full-time degree taught at the Mind Power University campus in Bhimtal, Nainital.
Is a 4-year NEP degree recognised for a master’s?
Yes. Under UGC’s postgraduate framework, a 4-year bachelor’s with Honours or Honours with Research can lead to a 1-year master’s, where the university offers one.
